Head Chair Introduction: Miya Rosenthal
Delegates,
My name is Miya and I will be your Head Chair for this year’s Joint Cabinet Crisis: Heart-Pulitzer Circulation War (1896) at BMUN LXXII! I look forward to meeting you all and hearing some lively debate about the future of newspaper journalism and American public policy!
I am currently a second year majoring in Media Studies and minoring in Public Policy. In addition to BMUN, I'm involved with the undergraduate public policy journal, political science research and student government. I also play on BMUN's intramural soccer team! Outside of school, I work for former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich to promote economic justice. My other passions include sipping matcha, skiing, thrifting, and most recently race car driving.
Model UN, especially crisis, is so special to me so it is my absolute privilege to head chair JCC. MUN introduced me to a passion for global affairs and public policy as a high schooler. I learned such valuable research, writing, public speaking, and critical thinking skills that I hope this dynamic (and fun!) committee develop throughout conference. As a non-traditional topic and committee, this JCC will create plenty of opportunity for delegate creativity--I'm excited to see how you maximize your characters' powers. I truly hope this committee imparts a shared love for Model UN, new insights on the role of media in society, and perhaps how to run a newspaper empire!
The JCC dais looks forward to meeting you in the newsrooms of 1896! Please read about your wonderful vice chairs on this blog, and help make this committee memorable for all of our seniors. If you have any questions, please reach out to jcc72@bmun.org.
Best,
Miya
